Treasurer/Public Officer



Are you a numbers person? Got a love of combat sports or an interest in reducing gender based violence? We know you're out there and we need your help! 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled individual with financial expertise and a background in serving on not-for-profit boards to become our new treasurer.

 
Who are we?

 

Duties:
  1. Board Meetings: Participate in board meetings held once every two months on Saturday mornings via Google Meet, and otherwise as required. Meetings run for no longer than 90 minutes.
  2. Financial Planning: Work with our CEO and accountant to develop a yearly budget (aligned to the financial year)
  3. Financial Oversight: Each quarter, review financial reports in Xero and report on our position relative to our budget.
  4. Financial reporting: Between September and November each year, review the Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet produced by our accountant for the prior financial year and complete reporting via the ACNC portal (due December 31st each year)
  5. Email correspondence: Outside of meetings, you will occasionally need to review policies and proposed decisions from the CEO via email to vote on actions.
  6. Phone correspondence: You will be available for other board members, the CEO and other leaders to call for advice.
Time commitment: 

We estimate that you should allocate 3 hours per week for this role including meetings. 

Qualifications:
  1. You must be 18 years old or older
  2. You must ordinarily reside in Australia
  3. Financial Expertise: Demonstrated experience and expertise in financial management, preferably with a background in not-for-profit finance and accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  4. Board Experience: Prior experience serving on not-for-profit boards
  5. Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course™ graduate: Desirable but not essential.
  6. Passion for the Mission: Alignment with and commitment to our mission to provide access, safety and support to victim-survivors of gendered violence through trauma-informed martial arts

Note: This position is voluntary and unpaid, aligning with our organization's not-for-profit status. We do provide Directors & Officers Liability Insurance (D&O).
